Bubble has lost, what seems to me, a lot of weight. She used to be a big chunky girl who was classed "overweight" but now she is quite skinny and I'm really worried... We will be booking an appointment at the vets for tomorrow! There are no other problems apart from the weight loss... She's eating, drinking, pooping etc absolutely fine (still a greedy pig!) but she's lost weight! I just don't understand! I'm sooo worried and I'm sat here crying my eyes out (stupid I know!)

How old is she? Is she show any symptoms such as runny nose, wheezy etc? Can you recall when she was last overweight

She's 4... 5 this year....
No no wheezing.. Yesterday her nose was a bit wet but I think it's because when's she's drinking she gets it all over her nose too.....
She hasn't been overweight for a while now but at a healthy weight

It s always a worry when our babies have a significant weight loss and is often h first sign of illness.

Have you noticed Bubble drinking anymore than normal lately?
No I haven't noticed that... She's drinking the same amount as she always has it seems

Do you know how much weight she has lost? It would be a good idea to weigh her weekly and keep a record.

My Amelia lost 200g very steadily over 6 weeks with no other symptons until last weekend when her nipples went crusty so I took her to the vet on Monday and she diagnosed an ovarian cyst. She's having hormone injections which I've read lots of pigs have had success with.
It would be worth having her checked out for this. Another sign is hair loss. There's certainly nothing wrong with her appetite either!
I'd get her to the vet for a check up as soon as you can.

How about worming? Think I have read somewhere this can cause weight loss if they have worms/parasites etc, and often there are no visible signs other than weight loss and sometimes coat condition is not as good.
Try asking the vet if this is a possibility, xeno 450 seems to be a favoured product for this on here.

Hopefully an expert can give you more advice on this as I have have no experience of it, but sure I've seen it somewhere.

Hope you sort your piggy soon :) xx

Yep worming is a very good idea too. I've only used Xeno 450 for mange mites not worming though. I use Four Seasons Anti Parasitic. Bob lost a lot of weight when I first adopted him and he started putting it back on with in 24 hours after being wormed.

Guineas can get worms but it's quite unusual. I would want to rule out other causes first. I think it's a good idea to see the vet. I'd take a urine sample with you & get them to dip it while you're there.

Hope she's ok xx

Thanks everyone! We have an appointment for this afternoon. I do have a feeling that it could be her teeth.. Because she's eating but she's eating reeeaaalllyyy slow! This would explain why she's lost so much weight because squeak would have been stealing all the food from her.... Poor baby! Ill mention the other things to the vet though!

Paws crossed here for Bubble x>>
Sheila, my older girl lost had weight and was drinking to excess at one point so we popped her to the Vet for a health check - she was eating as normal and displayed no symptoms of illness but could see her face had slimmed down :(
The Vet could find nothing abnormal and we just keep an eye on her weight now, she's a happy bouncy girl and maintains her weight so put it down to her age really :{
Sending Bubble hugs and hope she is perhaps just a bit under the weather, always good to have a piggy checked over though :) x

Thankyou! It could well be her age but the fact that she's eating so slowly makes me think otherwise. :{ ill send her you hugs!
