Hmm well that isnt right. Has he been eating and drinking okay? acting normally?
Id start syringe feeding before he gets any skinner as that is very low

Tell me about it! LOL, i'm just going to weigh all of them to see if they're all loosing weight, I don't know what i'm going to do if they are....0.o

He's lathargic, but other than that, eating and pooping. x

What should I put in the syringe? xx

I tend to add hot water to pellets to create a mash (obv leave to cool down) or if you have critical care / science recovery

If he is lethargic then obviously going to have to syringe him some water

We've just checked everyone, they've all had the same access to everything. It's just Bee, I'm now worried. I'm going to sort out a syringe and some pellets :( x

Yeah you will need to start syringe feeding him - maybe have a look in his mouth and see if you can notice anything

i've checked his teeth - they're fine.
he's molting a bit but, that doesn't necc mean anythings up?
His eye is a tad gunky.
he's eating red pepper

Thats good he is eating red pepper.
Does his breathing sound alright? has a clean bottom, clean ears etc.
You'll need to start syringe feeding him every few hours really unless you notice him eating on his own. Can you not seperate him from the others so you know for def how much he is eating?

We great minds han :p

Sorting out a nice isco cage for him.

His breathing is fine. It's good that he's eating red pepper, we picked it because it's his fav.

Clean bottom, clean ears... slightly gunky eye (poss ****)

4 days and counting to wedding day, could this week get much worse? x

:p
Least he eats red pepper - i brought mine some yesterday and not one of the four ate any :/ lol
See how he does on his own and whether you can see him eating and pooing
Obv keep syringe feeding him as this might encourage to eat for himself

Hopefully it'll be okay :) its a bit like with my Hector - all this rubbish happening and just when Christmas is coming but fingers crossed hes okay now.

Funny human is my other half "chris can you go do bee some pellets please" But he's already got pepper " yes but pepper isn't nutritionally rounded" oh...FINE x

Will do sweetie :/ sucky stupid sucky day! xx

okay so now he's standing over the pellets like he might eat them but looking rather confused as if he doesn't know what they are there for... he sniffs them, ignores them, and doesn't move.

:(

will just have to see what vet says. I know when Hector went off his food I figured it was his teeth and I took him to the vets and they didnt even notice a problem and then he saw a rodentologists on saturday and he has a ulcer in his mouth as well as overgrown teeth digging into both side of his cheeks. but since then he has stopped dribbling and is eating softened gerty and is gaining weight slowly. I am still giving him syringe feeds but not very often and not alot either - compared to have much i was giving him for 2 weeks.

Yeah, awww bless him poor little soul xx

Lexy, am I right in thinking Bee is the pig in with Genga?

This would all add up for systemic (or oral) fungal, given the severity of the fungal infection Genga's original cagemate had, it seems plausible to me that Genga was carrying fungal spores, easily passed on to Bee especially through grooming (Bee licking/nuzzling/barbering Genga).

IMO I would do a three week course of Daktarin Oral Gel, with luck this will be enough to knock it on the head, and even if not, it covers that angle and it is safely given to many pigs without a systemic fungal issue. All the symptoms you describe are typical of a systemic fungal issue - the weight loss, loss of appetite, and even a change in breathing - and with Bee's pal's history, I would personally start the Daktarin today. Dosage is 0.5ml 3x daily for one week, 2x daily for another week, 1x daily for final week.

Another OTC med that can be helpful in cases like this, Nordic DIDA, available from health food shops (Holland and Barratt). It is a herbal tablet for candida albicans infections, which can also lead to the symptoms described. If you choose to give this as well, dosage is half a tablet 2x daily for, ideally, at least 4 weeks.

I do still think a check at the vets would be a good idea, worth mentioning all this if you can.

Yes, Laura, Bee has been in with Genga.

The vet says that she thinks it's a Lower respitory problem and has suggested Baytrill 0.2ml x2 a day. Syringe feed as often as possible to try and encourage him to eat and get his gut moving, she also mentioned that sometimes when animals like piggies finally show their symptoms they are infact quiet ill. :(

Bunny has upper respitory problem, 1ml x2 a day.

Ok...did the vet explain anything about why she felt it was a respiratory infection and why she felt it was lower rather than upper? I'm not trying to be awkward, just get a better understanding.

When he breathed in there was a weaze, she said it was on his chest? He's not eating or drinking, not pooping either.... his cage is dry he's ignoring the pepper and sitting as if he's a duck. He's also breathing rapidly x

Refusal to eat or drink (anorexia) -- URI, Malocclusion, other
Weight Loss -- Malocclusion, other
Labored breathing, wheezing -- URI, Circulatory Problems, other
Crusty eyes, -- URI, other
Rough or puffed-up coat -- URI, other

Lethargy, hunched posture -- URI, other

No feces -- Anorexia (not eating), Bloat, other
Unable to urinate -- Bladder Stones, other

Ok, understood, I wasn't clear on all his symptoms. For what it's worth, I've got a pig through pneumonia, it can be done. The lack of poops and urine = lack of food and fluids, with starting syringe feeding you should see some output within 24 hours. Re your other post asking about syringe feeding - if you send an email to [email protected] I will reply with a factsheet.

Ok, factsheet sent, it should answer most of your Qs. I'm going to have to head offline now, but I will be on the other end of texts if needed.
