I weighed all four boys yesterday and noticed and interesting change in the weight and wondered if its normal? can piggys weights go up and down?
I've been keeping pigs all my life but only got into weighing them since joining this forum and can now see the benefits of doing so, it's just a pain remembering to do it hence the gap below.

16.11.11

Flinn (1yr ) 1.350kg
Winston (6 months ) 1kg

Fuzzy (2yrs) 1.750kg
Tyler (just under 8 months) 1.1kg

30.12.11

Flinn- 1.250-1.300kg (wouldnt sit still!)
Winston- 1.2kg

fuzzy- 1.6kg
Tyler- 1.2kg

I'm not concerned about Fuzzy's weightloss as he was overweight and he has diabetes so we've changed his diet to better pellets and less of them, more hay and more leafy veg and no sweet veg.

As you can see both the younger one in each pair has gained which is good. Flinn has lost weight but he feels chunky still, has a normal appetite as ever and drinks and eats well. Is this normal? do others find the weight can go up and down? should i be worried? :{

Any thoughts appreciated!

Weights can fluctuate a few grams. Seeing as Flinn would not sit still i would try weighing him again as you may well be worrying over weightloss that isnt even there.

We can quite regulary see changes up to 60-80 grams in the girls who we weigh once a week. 40 grams can be a poo or wee, weighing before and after tea makes a difference.
If he was moving it can have a huge effect - try again, see what he is. Also its the trend that matters so try weighing him every day this week to see if he is losing every day. They can be to keep still, we now weigh treacle in a cosie so she doesn't riggle on the scales.

Hope he is ok x
