Hi all, please forgive any misspelled words, I'm on my phone as the net gas dropped.

I weighed Smokey and Bandit today for the 1st time (I've had them 2 weeks). They were 379 and 377 grams.

They eat most of their veggies, I give them about a cup in the am, same in the pm. I fill their dry food daily, and they have access to fresh hay all the time, they also graze for a few hours whilst in their run.

I'm worried they ate underweight after reading weight charts, even tho they appear happy and are definitely eating.

Should I stop freaking out and just check them at the wkend again as I planned?

ETA. They are supposedly 9 weeks old but they were from pets at home so that could not be accurate

Thanks

Stop freaking out, please!

Weigh your boys weekly preferably at the same time. At that age, they should be putting on about 30-50g a week which will slow down after 6-9 months once they get closer to their ideal weight.

Don't worry about your boys being skinny or underweight right now. With a normal good diet they will be catching up anyway!

You will find that even stunted adult guinea pigs can put on another growth spurt when they come into rescue and get enough food.

Thanks, phew!

I was like oh noooo!

They eat like troopers, although they aren't gobbling as much hay as I thought they would, but they always jump on it when I put it in, and they are ALWAYS grazing on the lawn and their veggies.

I'm still in the stages of trying them with the recommended foods on here, so sometimes I give them something they aren't keen on and they leave it, but I make up for it by tempting them with something I know they do like.

I'll just keep an eye on it, It's easier for me to weigh at weekends because of no work on those days, so i'll do it again Sunday and we'll start the proper "chart" from there on.

Sorry for panicing, I just thought that was really low, but they are popcorning at the minute so definately seem "ok" to me.
