Hello,

Hope this is the right place to put - was debating where this topic best fit.

Can anyone recommend some decent weight scales? I have a small pair of electronic ones which I use with a large tupperware box - but when the piggies move at all the weight goes berserk! lol.

Also I seem to be getting strange readings.......

Many thanks

I have recently got Salter 'Air' super slim kitchen scales! I just ponk my piggies on without a box (in a play pen) but it has a zero function if you need the box. I use them for baking and piggy weights - but not at the same time;)

I've also got Salter electronic ones, they're £9.99 from Tesco. I put a small carrier on top so they can't move around much and give them something to eat so they sit still long enough to get a correct reading.

Those are the ones I have. Ok guess that means I just have super figetty piggies! lol :))

I wonder whether the ones with a bowl attached might be a good idea - gives them less room to move about.....maybe if they were higher up they wouldn't jump - then again, that could be dangerous if they did decide to make an escape! lol xx

How about wrapping them in a hand towel while they are on the scales and giving them their fav veg while they are in their just to distract them :)

Risk of escape is why I weigh my 8 boys of various ages in a play pen and then it doesn't matter if they wiggle off the scales. If they are in an especially wiggly mood I weigh them in a snuggle sack and then subtract the weight of the bag. I think lots of people use the bowl ones though - eg in pics of new babies.

I have your average scales, i wasn't sure what to look for but picked the scales i have because they were a nice blue...
Theres like a bowl that they sit in and i just keep my hand just off of there body so i don't effect there weight but if they move and i can keep them fairly still.
I do it up on the side and they don't tend to jump out, i keep a good eye on them anyways (:
