Hola fellow guinea pig lovers,
One question, how much should a 5 month (a little less than that actually) old boar weigh approximately.
Thanks in advance! :D

What is his weight?
Piggies come in all shapes and sizes so it’s hard to say what a weight should be.

Heft is more important than weight- you should be able to feel ribs but they shouldnt stick out, and hip bones should be covered by a nice chunky bottom. I think at that age our little boar weighed about 650-700g... but where that fits on the scale of normal is difficult to say as he was small and underweight when we got him at 14 weeks old (about 450g?) and now at 11 months old he's a well fed happily married chubster weighing in at over 1kg!

My Bill and Ted were 830 and 874 gms around 5 months old, they are now 3.75 years old and their weight are 1230 and 1300 gms, don’t know if this helps. Ted has always been a greedy boy compared to his brother, but both are fit and healthy.

Hi!

I agree with @Piggies&buns that heft (how much or little meat he has on his ribs) is much more important than weight. The normal range is so large that absolute weights and guidelines are rather useless. At his age, any extra colories are all invested into growth and not into overweight yet.
