Hello all

I am just after some general weight info. I weighed my two sow's on 25/12/2011 aged 10 weeks. Jerry was 414g and Sandy was 412g. I have weighed them again today and Jerry is 464g and Sandy is 434g. Is this about average weight gain? I do notice Sandy has not put on a much although in the flesh she does seem bigger/heavier.

Just so you dont have to work it out there is 10 days between first weigh to today!

Any advise etc would be appreciated, thanks :)
 
I don't know whats normal but as long as they are over 900g by the time their adults I think they're fine. Theres a weight sticky in one of the threads somewhere. My adult pigs are

Zambi - 2.5years old (we think) - 1150g
Zuki - same as about (we think) - 940g <-- he rarely goes higher than that or lower even at adult hood.
Cally, 1.5years old - 1250g
Kenya - 1.5years old - 1115g

I don't know of anything to say putting on weight quickly is badly unless you find lumps and such. Babies will grow quickly tho :)

That weight gain seems fine. :) My boys were gaining about 25g-50g per week when they were growing. :)

If your worried about thier growth rate, how about you tell us about their diets and we will see if anything can be tweeked?
 
They are on unlimited hay & pellets & fruit/veg morning & night only slightly worried as one has gained a lot more than the other :)

Their veg is mostly always gone (depends what's fed) & hay too but not so much pellets.

That sounds like the ideal piggy diet. :)

I wouldnt worry too much, my boys are from the same litter, and they have always been about 50 gramms different, however sometimes it was as much as 100g. :) As long as both are still gaining, I'm sure this isnt a problem. :)
