just wondering if these weights of Panda and patches are ok ?

at 9 weeks of age
panda is 480 g
Patches is 440 g

just wondering if they are doing ok... first time ive weighed them , is there a recommended weight gain minipigs should per week ?

Never had mini-pigs so unaware of weight ranges - sorry. Just bumping this for you...

They are doing very well!

There is no hard and fast rule how much a piggy should weigh eventually (an adult piggy can weigh anything between 800g and 1800g and still be healthy; although 900-1400g seems to be the average weight) and there is also the problem that birth weights can differ so much, but yours are well within the band you would see at that age and seem to be coming along very nicely indeed!

You will find that growth slows down between 6-9 months old when your babies are coming nearer to their ideal adult body weight; that is when you start very gradually reducing the pellets to the adult handful/ half handful they need after 12-15 months old.

Weigh all your piggies weekly; it is one of the best ways of keeping an eye on their health and catching developing problems early on.

:) thankyou ! for that info .. reassuring to know they are doing ok
my little panda is a a piggy of a piggy though lol she wheakssss really loud when rustling bags have been heard ! and she enarly climbed up me when she saw I had a bit of brocoli in my hand hahahaha!

My Lola's a fat little piggy, she's 2 week old today and weighs 250 grams. :)

my baby boar Arnie is 10 weeks and weighs 758g think he has eaten all the pies bless him.

As long as they put on about 20g on average per week, then they are doing fine. They will just continue to grow at that rate for a bit longer than piggies who will grow very quickly at first but then slow down much sooner once they get within reach of their ideal weight.
Do you remember that I said between 6-9 month old? That is a long margin for the intensive growth to start slowing down! Piggies won't stop growing until about 12-15 months, and they have the ability to grow until they are about two years old to make up lost ground.

Your girls are still on course to end up with a perfectly average adult weight of 1000-1200g. :))

I've just dug up the weekly weigh-in chart I kept for Podge and Loki when I first got them. The first data point is at roughly 6 weeks old and runs for about 3 months until I started weighing them on a more ad-hoc basis. Hope this is a useful basis for comparison.

They just over 2 years old now and weigh in at a hefty 1400g each.
