Weighed them both just now. Redemption's gain has slowed, but he still gained. He weighed 1225 g (1.225 kg?). Salvatore weighed 800 g. That's a gain of 150 g in 2 weeks more or less.

After I weighed Sal, I put him on a towel on the countertop and tried an experiment. He kept trying to hide behind the dish drainer, and I had to keep bringing him back out. He even did the ear-flapping wheeking while I petted him. But back to the experiment.

I got some parsley and held it with my fingers right in front of his face. His curiosity finally overcame his fear and he nibbled it, and decided, "Wow, it's good, I should just go ahead and take it." So after that, he took the parsley from my fingertips just like Red takes the clovers. Now if I can just get him to come out of his little shelter in the back of the cage to take it through the bars, that will be an accomplishment.

He'll get there Pat, don't worry. You've already worked wonders. :) x

I can't believe how much you've brought this little man out of himself already. To think when you got him it sounded as though he was moments from death and now he is thriving :) you really are an angel

Wow he is doing so well! He sounds like he is at a good weight now. Looks like he is a parsley fan. :)

You're doing great Pat, keep up the good work. ;)

Every other animal but one that I've had which was that cold and unresponsive has died. The one that didn't die, at least not then, was in a postictal state from having a seizure. I thought for sure this little guinea pig was dying, too, and maybe he was, but I followed the advice I got here and he pulled through and as LK says, he is thriving! From now on, if there are any more little ones that come my way to save, I don't care what kind they are, they are getting some vitamin C water and baby food. The most of what comes my way are baby rabbits and birds.

woooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo -c

Great to see this update Pat......... the boys are doing fabulously! x)x)
awwwwwww Sal is really progressing :)

it always makes me smile when i read your posts , especially about salvatore, you are his saviour,he just needs time to realise it!

Brillian news....!
It's all down to your extremely hard work that they are doing so well...!
You should be proud of what you have accomplished....!
I really though sal wouldn't make it at first if I'm honest... But I'm so glad he's pulled through....
Well done...!
x

Super weights - Red is a very good boar weight now, so it is not surprising that his growth is slowing down.

Sal is putting on as much weight as he can, which is also very encouraging. He is coming on really well with your good care. Trust is a matter of lots of tiny, tiny steps and the occasional milestone. Treasure those moments; they are what makes rescued piggies so special and rewarding to have!
