Ok so my dad has all these weird ideas for inventions and he came up with this strange idea for a guinea pig liner and I wanted to see what you guys thought. So it would be like a sheet of “fluffy” cardboard. You cut it to the size of the cage. I’m not sure about it since he’s not taking into consideration the odor and how absorbent it has to be. I mentioned the odor to him and he said it should be scented but scent isn’t good for their respiratory systems right? Just curious what you guys thought about it because I want to prove him wrong. :lol!:

It’s a no to adding odour to bedding. You would also have to consider how it would be washed or is it a throw away then it sounds similar to puppy pads but have a plastic backing on them.

Hmm for me it sounds quite wasteful as it sounds like it would be thrown away regularly when it gets dirty. I would also be concerned about the piggies staying dry. Puppy pads do a similar thing but usually they are used under fleece or other bedding which acts as a barrier to keep the piggies dry

Perfect response. Experience and ignorance taught what a mess any kind of cardboard can be eventually (and with very little time). Only stuff for that is chloroplast (not sure the term in the UK). Gotta love dad for trying though :-) so a big hug and thank you has to be an add on!

Just use the tested method of puppy pads towels and fleece blankets. Saves on waste as your only binning the puppy pads and the rest is all washable.

I agree odor shouldn't be added to the bedding! Anyway Good Luck!

Thank you all! I'm going to show my dad all of your responses to prove him wrong. LOL!
