Hello!
So I have been noticing this for a while, but my boy Mocha has a weird eye bulge on his left eye. I'm pretty sure he's always had it, including the last time he went to the vet, but has anybody seen it before?IMG_0850.webp

Will wait for a health and illness guru to answer you question .... in the meantime, you may find this thread useful

Lumpy Eye

To me it looks like fatty eye, which isn’t harmful. However as I’m not 100% please have it confirmed by another more time experienced member.

This needs further investigation. We have a piggy here, who has a slightly bulging eye. On examination it was found that he has a dental issue at the back of his mouth, on the side where the eye bulges. We immediately got him onto a strong antibiotic, in case it is a brewing retrobulbar abscess.

As Debbie says there are a few things that can cause a bulging eye. I took one of my past piggies to the vet for dental issues and at that point one eye was ever so slightly poking out and she had overgrown roots that were pushing into the eye socket causing the eye to stick out more. It does look like fatty/pea eye which is usually harmless but its always worth getting a vet to do a once over to be sure

is it turning red ? could he have poked his eye on something? I'm just wondering cause this happened to my sisters dog when he poked his eye on a metal piece that came loose in his kennel. But you should definitely have it vet checked?

I agree, bulging eye points to tooth issue first. I went in once with a slightly sunken eye pig but learnt this whilst i was there.

My Betsy had a bulging eye so I took her to the vet. After a thorough examination it turns out she has cataracts forming and this can cause the pressures in the eye to be uneven (according to the vet) therefore leading to one of them bulging a bit. It soon calms down.

As you are now aware there are lots of things that can cause eyes not to be quite right so only a vet with a hands on examination will be able to let you know what the problem is.

Let us know how you get on.

My piggy Hubert has this on both of his eyes, I asked the vet and she said as long as its not red or got puss coming from it it's fine :) just keep an eye on it :)
