Hi everyone, one of my piggies has this weird dark fingernail, anyone had situation like this? Is this anything dangerous? When I touch her on that finger, she doesn't react, so its not hurting her.

She has pulled her toenail out and that's the quick you are seeing.

My Edward did the exact same thing last year.

You don't need to see a vet unless the toe becomes swollen or you notice signs of infection to the nail bed.

Be warned that the nail may grow back funny looking or even not at all but she will be perfectly fine.

Edwards nail has just begun to grow back but it's taken at least 6 months so don't worry.

If you like, you can gently bathe the toe in cooled boiled salt water by mixing 1 teaspoon of salt with 1 pint of boiled water.

My Honey did the same with her toenail - I think she caught it on the stitching of the fleece - in her case there was a lot of blood around her paw and it was swollen so it meant a vet trip and some antibiotics - that was about 6 weeks ago and there is no sign of it growing back.

Tnx for feedback, I'm relieved it's nothing serious but I'll keep an eye to it just in case :)
