My guinea pig, Oreo, makes a weird series of humming/growling noise when pet? It sounds like it’s coming from his chest but he’s breathing, eating and drinking fine. His poops are not watery and his eyes are clear, his posture isn’t lethargic either. I have a recording of it, but my little Rocko is squeaking in the middle of it, so it’s kinda hard to hear. Oreo has gotten to be very quiet, too, though he seems to be very calm and healthy.

Should I be concerned more than what I am?

Is it that purr/rumble sound that they make if they don't like something? My pigs will do that if I do something they don't like (pet them too low on their backs or, in Hadley's case, use the phone that makes noise when you dial.) If you play the recording, we might be able to help more.

Okay, I’ll get it to the point where you can see it. He’s not strutting (he is a boar, and he has a very excited cagemate, so I definitely know what it sounds like ^-^), and he’s making all the normal noises he should be now. I think his voice was just tired, he was talking all night last night. Ah well, let me grab that video for y’all.

I’m no expert but I couldn’t hear anything unusual.
However I always work on the basis that if I’m concerned I go to the vet.
It’s much better to be reassured that nothing is wrong than miss an issue that could have been easily treated
