Tonight I was cuddling with my boar, Elvis, when I felt this weird solid lump by his right nipple, probably about the size of a raisin. I haven't tried to touch it too much just in case but I was wondering whether this required urgent attention from a vet or not. Please reply as soon as possible.
Thanks, Jelena

It's likely to be a mammary cyst or tumour. Nothing to be acutely worried about, but get him checked out in the next few days. If removed early there are not likely to be any long term problems

Hi!

Please have him seen tomorrow during regular opening hours; if possible in the morning if the lump is growing visibly overnight.
If it is the same size as tonight, then it can wait for a few days until you can get a convenient appointment as it is not an emergency.

If you ring in shortly before or as soon the clinic opens in the morning you may be able to bag one of the emergency slots that most clinics keep free for urgent cases, like fast growing lump that is tripling in size in 24 hours and that should be ideally removed within a day of you noticing.

Boars can get mammary tumours, too, which can be benign or malign. Alternatively it can be a harmless cyst or a fatty lump. Only a hands-on vet examination can tell.

All the best!
