Hi,
I just went to see my guinea pig Bella this afternoon and I was stroking her when she made this weird noise that sounded like a cough. Then she went back to normal. Ive never seen her do that. She is about 3-4 and lives outdoors in a wooden 2 floor hutch with a special thermal cover for winters. do guinea pigs normally cough? What does it sound like? What should I do?
Thanks a bunch ;)

Yep, they can cough and usually no need for alarm. If they are eating especially.

Honestly, just watch for other signs or more coughs but really just a cough is no need for alarm.

Yep. Both Jingle and Cufflinks (aka Caramel) do this when eating quite often.

It's quite common when they ear their food too fast, as long as it's only once in a while I wouldn't worry too much.

Water bottle placement on younger pigs can be an issue, and might lead to coughing as well. My female at around 4-5 weeks old, would cough after/while drinking. Didn't think the bottle was that high, but lowered it anyways and it stopped.
