Hi so Monday I took my sisters guinea to the vet for his feet bc they weren’t looking good. Apparently the bedding was not good on his feet. I feel so bad nobody noticed. Prescribed him 2 oral meds and 1 topical ointment. Today he’s been making weird noises all day. Not really sure how to describe it but It’s kind of deep and kinda sounds like the sounds your stomach makes when it’s gassy not the grumbling noises when your hungry? If that makes sense. But it’s not coming from his stomach obvi. And I also noticed he’s not eating as much or drinking as much water. What could be wrong?

Okay I think it sounds like he has a stuffy nose? What do I do pls help

Really you need to see or speak to your vet again. The breathing sound maybe a respiratory infection or his bedding maybe irritating him. What meds is he on? And is he eating less before or after he started on them? Antibiotics can be hard on piggies guts and sometimes reduce their appetite and slow things down so it is possible he will need a gut motility drug. But only a vet can say for sure.

Please weigh him daily and if he is losing weight step in with support syringe feeding mushed up pellets or recovery food. Antibiotics can affect the gut, and giving a probiotic or some "poop soup" made from a healthy friend's poops a couple of hours before or after his meds can help support gut function. But of course do also contact the vet too, if his immune system is low due to the stress of poorly feet he may well have picked up another infection like a URI which is causing him to wheeze! Hope he is ok x

The two oral meds are metcam and baytril. He started eating less after he started the meds. He does eat a little bit but he’s not searching around like he always does and his water is almost at the same level when it was filled. And he mostly just stays in the same spot making the same noise :(

Yes, that sound is an upper respiratory issue and as said before could be caused by an infection or irritant or even something else. The fact he is eating less since starting his meds and not moving about is a big worry. Baytril is an antibiotic, which can be very effective and fighting some infections but can also cause problems for some piggies' guts. Of course the meds may not be what's causing the problem but either way he needs to see the vet again as a matter of urgency.

There's not much I can comment on, I'm just here to support the rest of the great advice you have already gotten above... I'd take him back to the vet and tell them what you've said in this post =)

Please update us on how his vet visit goes.
