Weird Question

Hey everyone,

So weird question.. Every time I hold my female guinea pig, she likes to sit on top of my chest and groom herself. She is constantly getting a lick of her privates and then grinding her teeth (she isnt chattering). What does this behavior mean?

Hi! I would have her vet checked to see whether there is not a pain issue re. teeth grinding and whether there may be a stone in her urethra to make sure that you are not missing out on a potential medical angle. Licking and worrying an area can be a sign of pain or irritation.

Guinea pigs are digesting their food twice. The produce two kinds of poos: redigestible poos (caecotrophs), which they usually pick up directly from their genitalia and waste poos, which are produced at a different time.

However, the teeth grinding does not compute.
