Hello everyone, Merry Christmas!

I just scooped my three boys out of their cage for a run around this morning, and noticed a strange bald patch and sort of red scab on the stomach of my 4-month old teddy, Cornelius. Otherwise he and the other two are in perfect health, good weight and no change in behaviour. They're popcorning around my feet as we speak! Any idea what this could be? They been going through some little dominance ruts but I've seen/heard nothing worrying.

hi there, I would advise to pop him to the vet to get it checked over, they are can be prone to abcesses which can look not a big deal on the surface....but can be difficult to get on top of if left untreated. Then again it could be nothing! but the vet can reassure.

Okay, so there's a chance that could be an abcess? If it were serious, what sort of issue would I be looking at if it was serious? I'll keep an eye on it and take him in. I'm visiting family at the moment; do you think it can wait a week until I get back to my regular vet or should I take him to the local vets where I'm not registered?

if it were an abcess, they would probably lance the wound and drain the pus, then treat with antibiotics, it would then need to be cleaned and drained by you daily until it healed. Again a vet would be the only one who could check what it is and reassure you. Let us know how you get on.

I see, well I'll keep an eye on him and get him to the vets as soon as I can :). Thanks so much for your help! :)
