My Guinea Pig is making a weird sound, but only sometimes... when he is wheeking it’s sometimes like he can’t do it, and it just become this thin weird noice. I thought maybe an Uri? But he has no other signs than sneezing and he has a stable weight and teeth looks good. Only when wheeking. I am changing hay today to see if he might have something with the hay. My other piggies (in another cage) has also begun to make this sound...
It’s not like a clicking noise and it doesn’t sound like any of the noises from videoes of piggies with Uri

@Thebubbypiggies Sometimes pigs can't or don't wheek properly and make a wheezy sound instead so it can be a normal occurence.

However, if it's a sudden change or if you're worried then it would be worth a trip to the vet.

Hi!

It is not uncommon that guinea pigs lose their big wheek for the rest of their lives and end up with a hoarse whisper instead. It is nothing to worry about. I have had several of them that have all lived to a good age. ;)

Ok, thanks! Was just really worried. But Will of course keep an eye on them both.. was because it happened to one first and the other like a few days after and I know an uri is contagious , but they aren’t cagemates they have grids and fleece covering the fleece between them, also his cagemate haven’t showed any signs of anything yet, so yea.. and they sneezing is probably just the hay.. also I talked to my friend and she said that something that sounds like the same happened to her pig and when she took them to the vet the vet said they were fine and they are still fine soo:)

Very wise to keep an eye on them.
My avatar piggy Merab lost her voice as she grew older and had to whisper her wheeks

But was she fine or was she sick?

also FYI it’s not like every time, one once every now and then, like they do wheel too, but sometimes ( have happened 2 times this week) they kinda “lost the voice” or it got kinda raspy and hoarse?
