Today I noticed that my guinea pigs poops have some weird thread in them? It's sticking out on one side of the poop, and is about 5mm-1cm long. She has been acting very tired lately, and is sleeping most of the day. She does eat, but not as much as she normally eats. She is 4 years and 7 months old. Is she sick? Should I take her to the vet?

I'm not an expert but I'm sure weird shaped poos are an indication of some kind of digestion issues and/or dehydration. When one of my pigs is having bloat problems and not eating enough hay she has weird shaped poos...

Like I say I'm no expert, it was just a thought. Someone more experienced will be along soon with more info

I agree, poo shape is closely linked with digestion, we've had it with different piggies and my house bunny occasionally!

If her behaviour and appetite have changed I'd always recommend a vet visit just to be on the safe side :)

Good luck!

Some very mild digestive disorder/mild dehydration. Keep an eye on your piggies, check the water bottles, but as the poos reflect what has happened 1-2 days before, as long as your piggies are their normal selves and are not losing any weight, there nothing to to worry; it should right itself again.

Okay, thank you so much

It almost looks like maybe someone ate some thread, haha. XD

When I see a poop like this, I give my piggies cucumber at dinner and make sure when I rinse the veggies I keep it extra wet. It clears it right up! :)
