SO pleased.
Meet up with a foster lady this morning (found a really nice area too!). She bought along two piggies for me to meet, Pumpkin and Emily. As we were only meeting In a car park I didn’t take Lottie along. It was so hard choosing as they were both adorable, But I went with my gut and choose Emily.
Emily is about 1 years old and has been in a couple of foster homes since her first owner surrendered her after Emily’s cage mate died.
Bonding has not gone well for me the last few times so this time I decided to just get straight into business! I set up an area once I got home and tried them out straight away.. Everytime I’ve done gradual bonding it never goes well lol!.. And this time I really didn’t want to get attached to a pig for a few weeks to find out they don’t get along and have to send her back. I felt TERRIBLE doing that in the past.
Anyway.. They are getting along! Fingers crossed it continues! I had them in the pen for about 2 hours and I didn’t see any behaviour that concerned me. Lottie just seems to be a bit full on, she’s not very good at personal space and she’s full of energy but Emily doesn’t seem to mind so far. She’s putting up with Lottie being the dominant one, she’s being very submissive to Lottie who keeps grooming Emily and even grooming her mouth and ears.. She’s told Lottie off a couple of times, just mildly and it hasn’t caused any upsets. In the end they were laying next to each other while Lottie had a little Kip. I think she’s so happy to have pig company
I’ve just put them away in the freshly cleaned cage and all is calm.
YAY!
