We have welcomed a new piggy into our little herd today. Her name is Boo (short for Boudicca).
Boo has actually lived here before as a baby, when I fostered her for the rescue. She stayed with me for several months as we battled a very stubborn case of ringworm, before regaining her rather mad locks and being adopted with her pal Cleo (Cleopatra). She’s had an amazing home for the last 4 years and has lived with a number of older piggies. However, her last cage mate sadly crossed to the Rainbow Bridge earlier this week and Boo was lonely. Her owner reached out to the rescue and Boo came to my house with a clear plan of action. Plan A was that we would see if my gang would accept her. Plan B - if they didn’t, she would stay here so she had company, but would then be available for rehoming via our rescue dating service.
Needless to say we didn’t need Plan B. Boo was delighted to have piggy company. Iris agreed to play nice. Boris has found a lady who will let him sniff and lick her bum without complaining. Hazel as always just squealed in submission.
It’s been a little livelier since they moved into their newly cleaned and rearranged cage. Iris feels the need to stamp her bossy boots around but no major issues, as every pig seems quite capable of dealing with her brand of intimidation. Boo seems quite relaxed in her new surroundings.
