Well and truely fell out with my 3 boys!

Little tinkers like everyone but me 8...

I can feed them but if I try to stroke them they run, they have begun allowing Neil and Shania to stroke them, no problem as I figured they sense my uneasiness. My 2yr old has just been near there c&c (its in a diff room but I could see him) I wasnt to worried as they are fast so whilst he is at the side he cant get at them, I was watching he didnt attempt to climb in, he was lent over the side so I assumed he was trying to reach them but couldnt, anyways I went to investigate and there he was stroking Kreature and Dobbie, he is not the gentlest of kids either but they just let him, they didnt even try to get away 8...

I am very jealous and have told them they are getting no more veggies from me pow-pow mallethead (they simply gave me a look as if to say "thats ok theres plenty of other people to feed us" :)) )

Tis not fair though *stamps foot* I do everything for them 8...
 
sorry, but i had to laugh as you sound like me! Ive given my cat to my bf for the same reason.. she loves everyone but me! he says I'm over exagerating but I'm not.. she sleeps with him, purrs, runs to the door when he comes in.. the only time she likes me is when I'm menstruating!?!? dunno why!

I have 2 girl piggies atm who are a bit like your boys, but they hate everyone! I'm trying the patience thing, but its a virtue i dont really posess :))

lol in there defense they are still nervous, they hate being picked up, they are happy for someone to sit in with them and they will climb people, I'm good for that but if I stroke them they run and hide, its not good lol. They upset me enough with the fact my 10yr old daughter can pick them up and I cant lol. They adore her strangely enough
 
theyre playing you,thats what they do :) one of my pigs elphie doesnt like me although i feed her etc but she loves my teenager rolleyes
 
lol that wouldnt surprise me, they have obviously had lessons of my kids lol x
 
Bless :-) just like me two boys, they don't like mu hubb at all,when they are put playing in the sofa and they smell him, they normally run away and will come and climb to me and talk like mad lol, they both want to be in my chest, sometimes they even fight lol just don't want to be closer to other half ...
 
i have had a bit of a thought, but i think it was you that posted in the week that you are scared of the pigs biting you, so maybe without realising it you are giving off some fear signals when you lean in to stroke them and they are picking up on it. I could be wrong i am no guinea pig whisperer lol, but its just a thought xx
 
lol I wouldnt mind if it was the other half they didnt like :p

You are right it was me, I was having a wibble and wondered if it was right to keep them because of it, it could well be that, but I seem to go in to stroke them the same way as everyone else, infact if anything I'm slower then them when going towards them, also I'm no different with the babies but they arnt bothered (though I am probably more confident with them in feeling but I'm sure I dont show it)

Mind dogs can smell fear cant they so I wonder if pigs can :Ayociexp113:
 
I think with g.pigs being prey animals they probably have amazing instincts. But if its any consolation my indoor group still run a mile if i make a sudden movement let alone letting me stroke them! they are still quite new but i do understand how infuriating it can be xx
 
I am hoping that the more I handle the babies the more confident I will become, I admittedly bit of more then I can chew with the trio, I saw them and had to save them but didnt really think it through, I think because they are already adults and wasnt really handled it makes me nervous, plus all 3 have nipped Neil which dont help lol.

I am sure though with all the tips from here and stuff over time it will get better and I will learn to read there body language and hopefully they will learn to trust me, it does help that I have found this forum though, it has helped so much and I have learnt alot that I didnt know x
 
Aww mine don't like me much either, even though I am the provider of everything for them! But I just enjoy them in different ways. I know there's no harm of them ever enjoying a cuddle with me, although Thumper went through a phase of loving me when he was sick. They are great for when the puppy is driving me ever so slightly up the wall :)) I can go see the piggies and watch them and just chill out, I find cleaning them therapeutic as well and they give me something positive to focus my mind on.
So if you could think what positives you get out of having them, like that your children get a lot of happiness and learn responsibility through helping out with them etc. and concentrate on that, that might help your general vibe around them :)
Or I could just be talking rubbish lol :))
 
I do get alot out of them lol, they are ace to watch, I love the noises they make, the way they run up to the cage side whenever a bag rattles then sulk when it turns out the kids are having somethng and not them lol. I also love how they will go for the same bit of veg like I'm only offering that 1 piece.

I will get there with them, I will **** ask a billion more stupid questions on here along the way but in the end I will be confident with them in the end (even if they never like cuddles, the main things for me are being able to pick them up and help Neil bath them)
 
Treat them mean, keep them keen :))

They're playing you! They're cute, so they know they can away with it. :<>
 
the same happens with my guinea pig Gadget 8..., the other boar Gizmo is fine, he will even follow me around the garden :)
