i bought my guinea pigs some fruits for a little treat i bought a whole load of stuff for them to try

strawberries NO
melen NO
apples NO
banana NO
grapes NO
raspberrys NO

i just wanted to treat them to something sweet but they turned there nose up at it all

I'm just glad the kids like it all the strawberrys melen and raspberrys are all gone already!

Grapes can cause kidney failure so do not feed them

Oh and too much fruit is bad for them as they contain naturally occurring sugars. I just wanted to make sure you new these as I would not like your guinea pig to get I'll. Thanks:)

:x i didnt know that! most sights say the ok in small amounts though they should be corrected!

i only gave them a small amount of them i just wanted to find something they like so they could have something sweet like once a week or something (like me i love a chocy every now and then lol)
 
I agree....I give my little old sow grapes, she adores them. I had no idea they were harmful. Still, a little of what you fancy and all that! She has reached 7 yrs old and looks in fine fettle...just the occasional treat won't harm. I tell myself that, everytime I eat a chocolate eclair !
 
I think they're ok if you give them to them very occasionally but not too many
 
According to Laura's food sticky, grapes are fine in moderation, as with most fruits really.

I always find I'll try and treat my pigs to some nice fruit every now and then and they just stick their noses up rolleyes They do like cherries and blueberries though :)) Fruit is OK to give regularly, but not more than twice a week...I generally give it less anyway as it is high in sugar.
 
I only feed fruit once a week cos of sugars.
I have one pair if boys who won't eat anything sweet at all, those boys are all about the greenleafy stuff lol rolleyes
 
My girls used to love grapes!
Funny as they don't anymore, in fact they don't seem to like fruit at all-they loved it when they were babies though.
