Went to the vets for an appointment for my dog....came home with another guinea!

I went for a vet check after his castration with my jack russel this morning. I know the staff quite well and was asked to give a hand while opening a box that had been left on the doorstep overnight. (I help at a large all animal sanctury as well as what we do here so they know anything dumped will be taken in by either myself or Lyz) and you guessed it a boar that had some bad bite wounds and a burn on his back from something they had used to treat a previous bite pow-pow! He is resting inside tonight and is much better now. He is a lovely boy at least he was dumped somewhere he would be found and cared for. This epedemic of unwanted animals is just a nightmare!
 
I am a great believer in fate ... you were there just at the right time. It is the sort of thing that I happen to me! :))
Well done for bringing him home to look after him.

Hope the bites aren't too bad - is the burn from wrong medication or something?

Look forward to seeing photos of him.
 
Its not until you come onto a forum such as this that you actually get to realise just how many animals (and this is just guinea pigs) are dumped by thoughtless people. Those poor animals must wonder what it is that they done wrong!

Thank goodness there are people like yourself Vikki who will take in these animals and care for them. If I had the room and the money I would love to help take in rescue animals but unfortunately I am only in a flat.

He has been treated for mites and has been bathed for fungal just in case so all sources of itchyness should be short lived. his scratch wounds are a problem so he might have to start wearing a tubigrip jacket!
The area on his back was caked with grey gunk lord knows what it was but it has made his hair fall out.
 
Awww wow, how anyone could dump him is a mystery. How anyone could just dump any animal is a mystery.
At least he will be safe now.

What a gorgeous boy! How could anyone just abandon him! Its nice to hear what wonderful work you do for unwanted piggies :)

isnt he a handsome devil x) how could anyone give him away by leaving him somewhere a car could have hit the box or anything pow-pow

hope he recovers and finds a loving home soon x)
 
How odd i have just read on another forum that someone went to buy guinea pig food and came out with a dog!

Glad you got him...
 
So glad you have got this gorgeous piggie. At least the horrid owners had just a slight bit of sense by leaving him where they knew he would receive care, but anything could have happened whilst the poor little thing was waiting. How sad.
