Sodapops
Adult Guinea Pig
I am just bursting with excitement as me and my daughter went to visit our little boy Wexford today. Both me and my daughter put Vicky through a 2hr visit (may have been longer actually) and my daughter was simply in love with Wexford and of course beautiful Amelia drool In fact she's been on a high ever since and hasn't stopped talking about the all the wonderful piggies she hugged and cuddled - and fed their veg to!
My daughter did take millions of photo's on her phone of all the piggies - however the only two she managed to get of Wexford were slightly blurry
She did however get a couple of great photo's of little Amelia
I read daily the perception people have of rescue pigs and the reason why the 'choose' to go elsewhere (such as breeders and pet shops). Certain people seem to think that the pigs in rescue are frightened, nervous wrecks - this couldn't be further from the truth.
Rory and Ralph were absolute darlings and we managed a very long cuddle with both boys - they were more than happy to held and were very calm - I'm really quite confused as to why those lovely boys are still looking for a forever home.... You really couldn't get a more relaxed pair of piggies once they are out for a cuddle - and both boys were happily pottering around their cage the whole time we were there.
Amelia is quite simply a little angel - she looks so very delicate and is a real princess x) She's the sort of piggy you want to scoop up in your hands and cuddle all day long. It's so very hard to look at her and then walk away
We also got to see a very pregnant kizzy, While we couldn't cuddle her, she was out and about the whole time we were there - she's simply gorgeous and is going to make a great mum (and the bonus is - she'll have probably had her babies by the time Wexford is ready to leave - so we could quite possibly get to see the babies - oh i do love little baby piggies)
Apart from having a great day and having the pleasure of meeting Vicky and all the lovely piggies - i have had my eyes opened to just how wonderful rescuing can be - it's also quite saddening to see all the lovely piggies that are just desperate for loving homes
The work done by Vicky and rescue's alike is quite simply amazing - a few short weeks ago it was explained that Wexford was one of the most nervous pigs they'd come across! Well i don't know what magic wand Vicky has waved, but he appears to be coming out of his shell already!
Sorry for the long post - but i just had such a great day that i was just bursting to share
I just feel so very very privileged that i have been allowed to not only visit these precious pigs but am actually going to be re-homing one! It truly is a real honor - i just wish i had room for more
I will now go and spam the re-homing threads telling everyone how wonderful these piggies are
