Had Hamish out again today, myself and my flatmate had him on a towl and kept him snuggled on our laps and allowed him to burrow into it to feel safe.
This time there was no vibrating - wahay! He did keep a close eye on us and at one point tried to make a for it but was calmed down quickly. On my lap he started making little noises (almost like a bird twittering...nothing loud but defiinately distinct). And then...he piddled on me XD
I take it as a sign of relaxation...I hope at least!
He even nibbled a bit of brocolli from my hand, before ignoring me again :))

It's just going to take time, but hey ho I'm happy!

On the plus side -I'll be getting the rescue boy on tuesday! Very excited about getting him :<> Still don't know his age or what he looks like yet, Wendi has been very busy and the emails have been quite brief with what info I need. So I suppose I'll just have to wait and see. It's like christmas has come early!

Glad to hear Hamish is settling in. You must be so excited about your imminent new arrival.

I am VERY excited about it, kinda wish it was tomorrow and not tuesday so I don't have to wait another day! But tomorrow will be spent getting the new big cage ready for the pair. I am aware they may not be able to go in together for the first night, but it's a place for one of them to sleep at least.

I also got a paddling pool today from the ELC that is a nice size for them to have some out of cage time. So it's a neutral place for them to share some time together.

Thank you for the links Wiebke - I will read through them tomorrow and make notes :) Olivia is going home this week so I'll have to get one of the guys to help me with the introduction. Shouldn't be too much of a problem!

A day at a time, that's all it'll take.

Had him out again for about half an hour today, keeping him warm and snuggled in a towel so he felt comfortable. A little bit of talking again today, but not as much as yesterday. No piddling this time - but certainly no vibrating either so I think he was ok.

Put him into his new larger cage today and thought it quite funny to watch. Figured I'll keep him in the new larger cage and leave the smaller one free for the new companion (if the original meeting doesn't go well). That way Hamish is still new to the large cage but it is primarily a home he will get used to if Robin doesn't work out and I need to find him someone else.

He was making little noises whilst jutteringly looking around the new cage - as soon as he saw his igloo he shot like a rocket into it, the whole commotion was quite amusing for me to watch :))
I cannot wait for tomorrow to come, it's going to be so interesting for me to introduce them. I will keep everyone informed on the progress/process ;)

Your "little noises" is the piggy equivalent of "I'm on the march and OK". You will get a lot of it when you've got two!

Isnt it amazing how little things like this can make us piggy slaves so excited. The first popcorn, the first time your piggy lets you stroke him without running - ooooh its wonderful being a piggy slave. You are obviously thoroughly enjoying bonding with Hamish and it lovely to hear how happy he is making you. I cant wait to hear how he gets on with his companion.
