Wet bottom on sow - any ideas?

One of my sows, Whisper, has a wet area around her rear end today. It is not poo or smelly as her poos are normal, but this isn;t. She is eating and drinking normally. I have booked her in at the vet but I have to wait until Thursday. Any ideas?

If she is older, it can just be from sitting in her pee and no longer able to clean herself. It could be the very start of an infection in either the reproductive or urinary tract. It is often really difficult to tell right at the start.

Thanks Wiebke - Whisper is older than the rest of my piggies, but I don't know her age as the rescue didn't have that information. Fingers crossed its being caught early if it is an infection

In an older piggy the kidneys (as a part of the urinary tract) should also be checked and considered, especially if the urine is very watery.

Home now from the appointment with the vet. Whisper was very brave while being examined head to toe and didn't make a sound. Her heart and teeth are fine and her pee was examined under a microscope and there were a few spots of blood in it so a UTI is suspected. We came home with Loxicom and cotrimoxozole which smells like bananas so hoping she likes the taste of it! Whisper is a bit subdued but fingers and paws crossed she will make a complete recovery
