I've noticed lately that Sundae is frequently wet on her lower back- between the grease gland area and her bum. I'm unsure if it's urine or if it's a really overactive grease gland, as she does have chronic bladder issues as well as an active grease gland. I am thinking urine because it feels more wet than greasy, if that makes sense. The fur on her belly and around her genitals is not wet at all. I am not that sure how she would get pee up there, but it's not a one-time thing. Other than that she appears to be fine, eating well, active, etc. I've just been spot-bathing her frequently but am worried she is going to get skin irritation and am just wondering what's up. I'm going to up her antibiotic dose to the 'active infection' dose to see if it makes a difference (she's on suppressive antibiotic therapy for UTIs, which the vet has authorized me to increase if I'm concerned about an active infection.) She doesn't seem to be constantly dribbling or anything like that, no visible blood in her urine. I'm at the cottage now so no vet access (unless it's a dire emergency, in which case I would make the 2.5-hour drive), but will be sure to take her in when I get home if I don't see an improvement with the antibiotic increase. I'm also wondering if she may be getting a bit arthritic and this is somehow affecting her posture in the sense that this part of her back now gets wet? It does take her longer to get out of the cage now and she seems to 'psych herself up for it,' which has made me wonder if she may be slightly stiff (it has also made me wonder if her vision is going, as she has no limp or sign of pain to patting or activity and still runs around quite well when she gets out, though.) Any ideas? I'm stumped.
