Wet Bum/poo

I just got Frank out and I've noticed his poo's seem very wet and he has a wet bum.

He's on Baytril and has been for over a week.

Don't know what to do.
 
Baytril is well known for causing soft poos and tummy upsets.:(

Please make sure that you give him a pinch of probiotic powder about 1-2 hours after the antibiotic (you can get some from p@h). alternatively you can make poo soup by soaking the fresh poos of a healthy piggy in some water and then syringing the water.

Take your boy off any fresh veg until the poos have firmed up again for at least 24, better 48 hours and if necessary top him up with hand feed. Lots of fibre will hopefully help to steady his guts again. ;)
 
baytril can be quite harsh on their tums. you can give a probiotic alongside it. i would also contact the vet to tell them as if he's got gas aswell then he may need extra help - a gut stimulant for example.

If he is going off his food or he has a signs of bloat (swollen tummy that is hard in places), yes, please see a vet. If necessary, you can ring up the clinic and ask whether they think you should bring him in.

Told us to take him in as an emergency, what do they need to give him?

It depends on the findings and whether your vet can see signs of partial bloat or not. He may profit from a different antibiotic and some gut stimulant or anti-gassing med to help stabilised the guts again.
 
I can't remember the name of the other antibiotic that's really good for bone infections :(
 
@Wiebke They gave him:

Vomend injection (5mg/ml) 10 ml per ml Vetergesic (0.3mg) 1 ml ampoule (CD Schedule 3)

and Protexin Bio Lapis 2g per sachet

He's to go back sunday
 
That sounds OK; the vomend is to calm down his guts.

Just take him off all veg until he has stabilised and add some very rough fibre like brown cardboard, brown paper or toilet roll inners for him to nibble on to help his guts.

The Bio Lapsis is a good all purpose fibrous probiotic.
