Hi guys,
My sheltie always has a wet bum where she sits in her wee. Can i shave her bum to stop the hair getting damp and smelly?
The ladies get thoroughly groomed and trimmed once a week but hate having baths. The sheltie is the worst she will actually leap out of the sink. Any suggestions? x

Are you sure it is where she sits and not some kind of infection/k.stones?

I wouldnt 'shave' it, but you can trim it to keep her clean :)

I groom my longhaired piggies everyday :)

They get brushed daily but a trim etc weekly.
Well i see her wee then just continue to sit in it.
Maybe she needs a check up on her bits then?

If it does get smelly then I would too, just check in case it's not an infection.

I cut JoJo's bottom hair too else it gets all wet and knotty :)

yup I do Angels and Cheyennes too

i think bum trimming depends on the pig, harrys a dirty boy so would probably benifit from being shaved HAHAH but the rest are pretty clean in that way! ;D

Two of mine have white undersides...can you imagine?

They do a wee, but then are so comfortable they won't move!

When this happens, I just get a wet kitchen roll and wipe them so no smelly wee!

=]

What type of bedding do you have in their cages? That might be what the problem is, the wee doesnt get absorbed away from the piggy. Its not good for any rodent to keep lying in their pee, it will eventually cause an infection more with females than males, as the urethra is longer in males, as the pee goes off.

When they are in their indoor run she wees then doesnt move. I have to shoo her away to wipe the tiles. ?
They have newspaper topped with Aubiose...
