I've just been having cuddles with my boys when one sneezed. When I checked his nose, it was a bit wet from one nostril. Clear mucus and no crust or anything else.

How common is this and does it direct towards a URI? I know obviously humans can sneeze when they're not ill but I get so worried about my fragile pigs. Obviously I will keep an eye on him and monitor any further sneezing but do you think a vet appointment tomorrow is necessary or only if further symptoms appear?

I suffer with OCD and anxiety and although I'm on the mend I still think the worst. There was a time last year where I was at the vets at least once a week because I was convinced my pigs were ill and in the end they gave antibiotics but looking back I'm sure it was just to shut me up so opinions please? I'm unsure what to do because I know it's better to be safe than sorry but is occasional sneezing with a wet nose normal?

I didn't explain very well really, I meant am I being overly paranoid or is occasional sneezing with a wet nose normal?

probably just a sneeze in all honesty. I will hear a sneeze a day most days from the pigs... hay is dusty and can make them sneeze. Good news on no Mucas. All noses are wet straight after a sneeze, keep an eye out for any crust or wheezy breathing.

Just keep a close eye on him as you are doing and try not to worry. Anxiety and OCD are really hard to deal with around pets and family it gets into a worry loop.

Hopefully it is just a sneeze and nothing else.

I probably wouldn't be worrying as much if he had his face in hay but he was sat on a puppy pad on my bed. But thank you anyway and I'll try not to worry but will be watching him like a hawk.

Just keep a close eye and try not to over think it, I know it is easier said than done.

Try not to worry too much. If you notice more frequent sneezing/ coughing +/- watering eyes, changes in breathing eg noisy breathing, shallow breathing and any other changes in behaviour that's the time to seek a vets opinion. As @sport_billy says, an occasional sneeze is not uncommon in many pigs. Hope this reassures you.

it can just be a bit of hay dust up her nose. Guinea pigs sneeze from time to time. You need only to worry when the sneezing persists or is very frequent (more than the occasional sneeze throughout the day.
