We just purchased a baby piggie from the pet store 5 days ago. She has plenty of water, hay and we are feeding her the same food she was eating at the pet store. She has not had any veggies yet. I tried to give her an orange slice but she refuse it. Her poop for the first three days was dry and oblong shaped. We noticed yesterday that her poop was wet and soft/mushy, longer than the dry poop. I spot checked her cage daily and removed the poop that I could see on top of her bedding. Today I did not notice any poop so am I guessing she ate what she pooped. She is still eating and drinking, walking around her cage, and hiding from us when we try to get her out of the cage. She purrs when we hold her and doesnt seem to be overly stressed. I just noticed a clump of poop in her cage and took it out. Upon inspecting it, i noticed it was wet and has some mucous mixed in with the clump. You could cleary see the pellett shaped poop but it was clump instead of the usual single pellett. We are new to the piggie family and I would like to know if I should be worried about this piggie at this moment. Does the poop normally vary? Any suggestions for this new piggie mom.

Hi Sparkles, are you feeding unlimited hay or some other kind of roughage?

(Please ignore my previous message. I see now that you said you are feeding hay. Oops!)

Hi Sparkles, hopefully someone who is more experienced can help you in the morning.
Until then my advice would be to make sure she has plenty to drink, and give her watery veg (i.e. cucumber) after she passes any loose poo.
Guinea pigs produce 2 kinds of poo - 1 type that is usually scattered around the cage and 1 which you do not usually see as they eat it straight away. You say that today you didnt see any other poo in the cage what-so-ever? If this is the case I would book an appointment as soon as possible with a vet so they can have a feel at her bowels and make sure everything is okay.
