Not entirely sure how it happened but a quick convo with the son of my parents neighbour resulted in us having a 3rd guinea pig! He'd bought the pig the week before as a friend for his 4 year old boar and then his wife was involved in an accident and he didn't think he could look after the pig properly. His wife is very sick and it doesn't look as if she'll be out of hospital anytime this month.

So, later that evening we bought Eggnog home. He's a gorgeous little thing, a baby who's half the size of the other two beasties and has a very ,very sweet nature.

So far the boys are all getting on well - obviously I'm prepared for it to all go wrong and have a second cage set up in case the boys do fight and they're not left alone together or caged together overnight. They spend their entire day in their run in the lounge or loose on the floor ("pig on the floor" has become a very common phrase in our house!) and apart from a bit of posturing and rumbling they've been fine. No idea how long it'll last but for now it's going well.

Cool, can't wait to see pictures, love the name by the way :))

Ah bless! What about the 4 year old boar is he still on his own.

He is by himself, they lost his mate a couple of months ago and wanted to get him a companion but with the accident he didn't think he could give a new baby enough time and attention so he's going to wait till his wife is out of hospital then see about getting a new friend for 'Boris'. Boris is at his parents (my parents neighbours) at the moment being spoilt rotten, they've got their grandaughter as well so he's being well looked after.

Eggnog is a gorgeous caramel colour with big brown eyes so totally different to the other two (red/white with red eyes and black/white with black eyes) and looks more like a hamster than a guinea pig at the moment. He's only 11 weeks old so has plenty of time to grown into a fat piggy like the other two!

what an ace name. :)) glad to hear they're getting on so far.

Ah thats good news then. I hope his wife is ok,this must have happened at xmas time?

We got him on Xmas Eve - not the way I would have liked to have got another pig but so far it's worked out for everyone. He's the funniest little thing ever and is currently dragging a 7in carrot across the floor, stopping every few steps to have a nibble then moving a bit further!

He sounds delightful, and your description of him with a very large carrot made me laugh out loud. I love the name - did you choose it, or did he come already named?

aww, what a little livewire! he sounds gorgeous. pigtures please! i'm glad he got two new friends and i hope his old mommy feels better soon. xxxxxxxx

Welcome Eggnogg ... great name! :))

Look forward to seeing photos of him!
