I rescued Olive and Opal along with some others + babies that a friend took on.
The place we got them from was awful, i won’t go into too much detail as I made a post when I first got them. Basically there was about 30 piggies at the bottom of a bird aviary, with birds.. the floor was dirt, never got hay was only fed on carrots. They were all full of mites, open sores and most the females were pregnant. It was devastating and heartbreaking.

So six weeks later here is the before and after!

I remember reading the awful plight of these piggies a while back. What an amazing job you have done getting these lovely ladies back to full health. They were obviously in very poorly, your kind heart has given them a great future. Well done you x

Love this story. It is an amazing story and the way they recuperated sound fantastic.

I was appointed Lara's pet parent by a friend who didn't want her. My friend never even knew guinea pigs ate veggies. When I got Lara, she was very skinny, and came without a cage. I bought $100 cage for her and started feeding her variety of veggies to fatten her up. She now lives side by side my boy Finn who keeps her company but in separate cages.

Finn should have had a cagemate because I was looking for another boy for my Finn to play with but I ended up with Lara. They live in separate cages because I never planned on getting them neutered. Seeing I am not a breeder, I would cause more trouble than good if I allowed them to have babies.

What beautiful piggies they are, now they have their health back. Good job done there! I do like a happy ending :)

What a transformation! Good job! They look so much happier and healthier :)

What beautiful glossy coats they have. You must be delighted.

What awful conditions they were kept in, you’ve done a really great thing, well done

You have done such an amazing job on bringing those two ladies back to good health. They are beautiful, thriving and happy and that’s all down to you.

Was there any further news on if the breeder is still operating? I hope she was shut down, no more animals should have to needlessly suffer the way yours did before you rescued them.

Thank you so much everyone, I’m so pleased with their recovery!

I must remember to ask my friend who did the reporting, I know the rspca did take a visit but unsure of the outcome as I don’t think the rspca are ‘allowed’ to tell you anything! I must try and find out.
It was an older bloke who had them, he wasn’t really a breeder.. just let them breed and would occasionally sell them at markets 😠 the worst part is this guy just couldn’t see what he was doing wrong and truely thought they didn’t need hay, grass or pellets. Of course he wouldn’t take our advice, but we didn’t want to cause an argument as we didn’t want to run the risk of him losing his and not letting us take any! I'm
No way sticking up for him, I hate him for his negligence, stupidity and cruelty but he actually was a nice man thinking they had a great life 😢 it was a difficult situation. I pray all the pigs (and birds) are our that hell hole 😭

You have done an amazing job looking after these two neglected piggies. It is lovely to see them looking so well and happy after their awful start in life. :D
