Hello,

Just thinking ahead about this pregnant piggie issue I seem to have aquired!

If she really is, and she really does have babies...then hopefully it will only be 1 or 2. If that's the case, then i think we have room to expand accomadation and keep.

Now, if the babies were girls, then that's easy. But if we have a little boy in the mix, at what age can one neuter, and would it be possible to re-intergrate him back with mum and sisters afterwards?

Thanks!

I'm not sure; best wait for somebody more qualified; but I think he needs to be mostly grown before he can be neutered.

Until then, any single baby boy has to live next door (preferably with eye contact), or you could pair him with an adult rescue boar for company, if you have the space. In this case, better not have the boys too close by the girls.

Otherwise, you could look for somebody from here to take him on; so you can stay in contact.

But don't count on one or two - you may have more!

Most vets will wait until boys are at least 3-4 months old before neutering. Some vets will wait until the boys reach a certain weight, say close to 2lb. The optimal time for neutering is around 6-18 months of age, but it can be done earlier as I explained.

I have had three boys neutered, and adopted one who was then recently neutered. The boys I put in for the surgery were almost four months old, and six months. The one I adopted who had recently been neutered was estimated to be 3-4 years old when he had his surgery.

We have had several boys neutered between the ages of 6 months and 4 years but it took a long time after some bad experiences to find a piggy neuter experienced vet, now we have a fab one. and have had no problems at all post op. have a search for neuetering there is a lot of information on the forum :)
