just before Christmas my Wilber lost his cage mate, I would like to try and get him another mate as he seems to be missing the company. I have tried bonding him with my other older boars but he was having none of it and was quite aggressive. Would a younger boar be an option To? If so what is the best age to try and find? It's best to try and bond him with a boar under 10 weeks of age, although a rescue may be able to help you with boar dating :)
 
You need to get him a young piggy to bond with probably under ten so it can bond with out fighting but over six weeks so it is old enough to leave its mum.
 
I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure someone will be along soon to offer you some help and guidance for Wilber.
 
I always thought the age was not relevant but the personality is what mattered. If you take him to a rescue they will let him choose his own friend. With guinea pigs they have to be bonded. You cannot just place two together and hope they get along. Wilmer is adorable. Good luck with finding him a friend.
 
Good luck. Sounds like he is the sort who likes to take charge! A good rescue can really help here and I hope it all works out for you and him.
 
I have found a little Celt lady in Bournemouth, Dorset who runs the guinea pig ranch. She does a cage mate service, where she takes your piggy for a week or so and tries to work out a good match. I went to check her out today and she has an amazing setup. My Wilber is going to stay with her on Friday for a few days, here's hoping he finds a lovely friend
