What am I doing wrong :(

Well Harley was back at the Vet's yesterday and in now on antibiotics, as he started with a nasal discharge and after he was breathing funny the other week I thought it was best to go back.

And today I let them all have a run in the garden whilst I cleaned them out, put there nice new fleeces in brought them back in and have just given them their greens and I noticed either Harley or Poppet is weeing blood.

So now starts the fun of trying to work out who it is :{

What with Flash & her crystals, now Harley and/or Poppet I just feel like i'm doing somthing wrong. 8...
 
It's just one of these times you get when you have several piggies... :(

Put your pigs singly on a white surface (white towel would be best) to see who the culprit is. However, don't be surprised if they hold out on you! I have been playing that particular game myself! mallethead

Best of luck with your ailing crew - you are a good owner, so you notice early enough and can treat them before things go really bad.
 
At the min they are taking turns to sat next to me on a white towl, so will hope fully found out!

It's just fustrating & upsetting when it all seems to come at once!
 
Awww hugs ..... its horrible when they're not well :(
You are going to the vets and keeping a close eye on them and are doing nothing wrong at all - in fact you are doing great to have firstly spotted a problem and acting on it before it gets worse,
Lucky piggies if you ask me :)
Hope they get better soon and you can work out who's got the problem

Thanks CandyFloss! I have had them sat on white towls now for over an hour and even though they have pooped and wee'd there is no sign of blood.

Will keep an eye on when i put them back in the cage and try again tomorrow. Neither of them seem in real discomfort at the min and are still eating, drinking etc.

Just want to find out who it is before it get's worse.

Not sure!

Harley is already on antibiotics for another problem, and the vet give me some spare. I don't want to start giving poppet them if it's not her or if it could harm her.
 
Does it look like proper blood or is it pinky coloured wee?


The reason I ask is that one of mine always used to have a pinky wee after going on the grass, when she didn't there was never any sign of it at all, which was really odd! I always wondered if the rough bits of grass were making her do it, silly I know :red

Was pinky/ bright pink wee. If that makes sence.

Never noticed it before after they have been on the grass.
 
Is it worth seeing what happens overnight, then maybe then put one at a time out on the grass for a while, then put them on a white towel to have a wee, each in turn?

I never did find out what it was with mine, it was very odd, I thought the grass must have been scratching their insides lol rolleyes
 
Yeah will keep an eye on them tonight, as I have mentioned they are both still eating drinking etc. Neither off them seem in pain when they wee either. Just checked the fleece and there is no sign. ( I did change the 1st fleece)

Will try with the towel again tomorrow before work.
 
Can I ask doe's Flash have a medical thread?

To be fair I often feel as you do but as my friend says ' We should be thankful they feel safe enough with us to tell us they have a problem' although my purse is never thankful.

Ps. Blood quite often dries in brown!

Yeah Flash had one a while ago, when she was weeing blood. A change in diet and filtered water seem to have help her.
 
awwww I know, it's so hard! When Pickles was unwell and stopped eating, he didn't like to be force fed and I kept blaming myself since he hated all of his medicine and remedies :( . But you're caring and doing the right thing, don't worry! I knoe it would break my heart to see Pickles just sitting there and I couldnt do anything. I totally feel for you and think about you and your piggies. I hope he will get better in no time. Pickles is now better too, the little fella made it and he sends good vibes too!

Ever since I joined this forum and have been reading about all the things that can go wrong, I have been watching Redemption's urine and poop to see if anything is ever amiss. I have had him to urinate on newspaper, on white paper towels, and on puppy pads in experimenting with the best cage setup. In all that time I have frequently enough been witness to fresh urine. It has always come out clear, and he drinks lots of water every day. Yet even though it starts out clear, it will change color sometimes. It has turned pink before, and of course I thought it might be blood, but it didn't turn pink later. It has turned brown, too, so I wondered about that. At no time has he ever been in distress, and the colors usually are temporary. So I think that it might be a combination of whatever he ate and whatever he is weeing on and if there are any poops nearby. The most usual condition is that he backs into the corner and poops, and backs into the same corner and wees, and the urine dissolves the plant pigment in the poops and a dark brownish green color results. Just my 2¢.
 
Well so far there has been no more dicoloured wee.
So will just keep an eye on them.
