Bitzy&Patches
Junior Guinea Pig
Hello, I'm back in this section yet again! Seems like I'm always here! But my piggy Patches is now back on baytril again as we found more blood in her urine, we're now giving it too her twice a day and it's a stronger baytril, so we're hoping it'll clear up anything that's making her pee blood.
But I'm here for a different thing, as I finished giving her the baytril I always give her something to eat as a little treat for being good (and to get rid of the taste!). And as she was eating her veggie I decided I would also give her brush because she was malting like mad! But as I was brushing her I found little clumps of hair with skin stuck to the end of them. I have a picture of some of them here-

Sometimes my horses get them when they've maybe they've got a bit of dry skin or they have an area of skin that has been irritated, once we remove them the hair grows back like normal. But patches is obviously patchy and she has a black bottom and a cream top and a little black head.

I've also only found the clumps of hair on the black patch on her bottom and no where else, and in that area there's quite a bit of dandruff. There's no dandruff on her cream patch or her head. She's obviously an Abyssinian piggy, I thought that maybe that might have something to do with it. I also thought that it could possibly be a fungal infection but she's had them for a couple weeks now, I don't know much about fungal infections but I think I would know what it was if I saw it. I'm going to buy some gorgeous guineas shampoo to maybe help clear up the dandruff. Also when I took the clumps of hair out they were quite loose already and they came out very easily.
But there we go, if any of your piggies have them and if you know what they are or how they start it would be great! Patches isn't itching herself and she doesn't look irritated in anyway.
Thank you in advance!
