I was holding Oakley today who is 8 weeks old and noticed that he had 3 red sore like dots on his skin. There seemed to be a little bit of hair loss around that area but becuase he already has quite long hair i didn’t see it earlier. Later on I noticed that there was a larger scab behind some hair.

I have no idea what it’s from. Could it be from him biting himself in that area? Or has his brother been biting him (I’ve never seen them fight before and they cuddle together)? Or does it look like it’s from mites?
I’ve never had experience with any of these things with my other guinea pigs so I’m a little worried!
It was difficult to take photos of him as he’s a baby and can’t really sit still for long, but I’ve inserted pictures that I managed to quickly snap.
Please give your opinions! Thanks guys.

Hi and welcome!

Please have him vet checked to see whether it is a fungal infection or mange mites It is impossible to guess without a hands-on examination.
If you are within two weeks of getting him from a pet shop, you can reclaim any vet cost from the shop by presenting the sales receipt together with the vet bill because exposure and infection must have happened at the shop or their breeder.
