What Behavior Is This?

Hi, new to Guinea Pigs. We adopted our first a week ago, a one year old boar. We got our second boar, who is about 2 months old. We have them in a cage that is divided by bars so they can see each other. Our older one keeps making a purring sound and biting and pulling at the divider bars. Is he being aggressive or just excited for a new friend? The younger one will go to the bars and they will nose at each other. I don’t think there is any biting going on. Thanks for the opinions!
