What can you use to clean ears?

My lunkarya Dolly has a severe issue with wax build up, she needs her ears cleaning weekly as my vet advised but I forgot to ask what I can use to clean them. I've heard olive oil can be used, is this true and how should I do it? If not what else should I use? Thanks!
