Elma is just finishing her course of antibiotics and drops for a very severe case of conjunctivitis, and her eyes have been normal for at least a week. However, I have just noticed that Elphie is displaying the same symptoms, and have requested a vets appointment (waiting to hear back). I'm fairly sure that it is conjunctivitis, so I know what treatment she'll need, but I can't understand what is causing it.
I read that there are two types of bacteria that can cause it, and that piggies living in unsanitary conditions are more likely to get it, but I do a full clean out twice a week and during the summer months they're hardly in their hutches anyway, they're out in runs. I don't know what I'm doing wrong
I use this disinfectant when I clean and every few months I do a more thorough clean with vinegar and treat the hutches with stuff to keep the flies away. Is this disinfectant good enough? Should I be using something different?
