What could this be?

Hopefully that is a turn for the better. If there isn't an improvement and your mum doesn't want to consider the x-ray you could try another antibiotic. I had either septrin or sulfatrim for a UTI once (can't remember which one as it was a few years back). One of my piggies had a stubborn infection which baytril alone didn't clear but a second course with another antibiotic soon made her better. I usually give the loxicom before baytril too, most of mine have liked it cos it tastes like honey and most of the baytril will then be gobbled up before they realise and hate me :))

Glad Roxy is feeling better. You’re doing a great job in caring for her.

I find it doesn’t matter the length of time you’ve had an animal for and sometimes you can bond instantly. I only had the pleasure of having my Mojito home with me for 6 1/2 weeks and I was absolutely devastated when he sadly passed away. I knew him for about 8 weeks in total as him and Mango were given into the rescue where I volunteer at aged 4+ years old. And it broke my heart so much I had to take them home, as I couldn’t understand why someone could give them up at that age. Happily I still have Mango but he’s a little old man. So don’t feel bad about the love for your pets it shows you’re a caring person. :tu:

Hope she is doing well. You sound like such a lovely piggy carer.

Thanks everyone!😊
Rexy has started squeaking while peeing again... it’s not all the time though... it’s annoying... because her third dose of baytril was yesterday, and I thought I would be seeing an improvement :(. How long should I expect it to be before the baytril properly works? Also, I am doing a sponsored silence today, and have raised £70. So if she needs a xray- some of the money is there. I’m really hoping she doesn’t though, and this gets better so if it does the money is going towards the rspca :)

It's lovely that you are raising money to pay for treatment of your guinea pig. It shows what a responsible piggy owner you are. I know you want to give the money, if not needed, to the rspca which is a great cause. Instead, why don't you put it away for any more vet treatment that Rexy may need in the future then you'll have the money there so you don't have to raise it again.

Right now it’s looking like I will need every bit of the money- rexy is still squeaking while peeing.. and now there’s blood in it.... I’m seeing it definitely more often... but I didn’t notice it before we went to the vets, so I have no idea if it was there before, as the paper bedding we use has some brown bits and some white and the blood sometimes tends to dry a bit brownish, so I can only see it when it’s fresh. Today was her 4th dose of baytril- and showing no signs of improvement, is it definitely not an infection? :( Surely the baytril would’ve started working by now?

Oh and also thanks for the lovely message, and that sounds like a good idea :)

Turns out the pink/red pee is from my other pig pepper. I love her so much, I have had her since she was 8 weeks old. And she has never had any problems until now! She is going to the vet with rexy (DEFINITELY) when rexy goes for her check up on Monday, but there is like some red gloopy stuff coming out her bum... and she is even refusing her favourite treat! She sounds like she is stuggling to pee as well. She is on my lap. And I am so worried... I feel like such a terrible piggy owner.. like I’m doing something wrong :(. I don’t know what to do, I love her so much and just want her to be ok. I have had no problems until now and my mum had a guinea pig who lived to age 9 and never went to the vet once! 😓

Keep calm - you're doing a great job . I'm afraid we all go through bouts when are guineas need some vet treatment . Could you get Rexy's check up brought forward ? The sooner Pepper sees a vet - the better .

The earliest the vet could possibly do is Monday. :( I really want her to be ok, is there anything I can do? I will probably have to pay with my sponsor money. :(

Have you explained you can see red stuff ?

You are going through the mill with your piggies aren’t you.
Hope all improves soon for both

My mum says I’m overreacting and that pepper will be fine as long as we take her into the vet on Monday. I don’t know what to do! Will the baytril that I’ve got for rexy do her any good? I’m crying atm I love her so much 😓

I’m so stuck here. I am litterally turning 14 next month and if I could only have one wish it would be for my guinea pigs to be happy and healthy. Anything I can possibly do to help my piggies!

My whole family is refusing to listen to me.... they all think I’m overreacting and ‘it’s probably just a period’. I don’t know what to do here. :(

Guinea pigs DO NOT have periods.
I know! 😡 I’m taking them on Monday. Hopefully she’ll be ok by then. There isn’t really an improvement with rexy. She is squeaking when peeing still and her urine is very sludgy

@Wizzy - please take a deep breath . You are doing everything you can . Can I ask you start a separate thread for Pepper so it can be picked up by a health and illness guru ?
