What Do I Do

I put Timothy hay over a bridge & ive a plastic box with hay in, they love to lay in the hay box & do their business. Trouble is I had to take thery hay away because it was making them cough. We tried to put Timothy hay in both places but that's not cheap. If anyone uses the tray what do you use in it. We took the tray out for a while & everything in the cage was getting soaked.

Coughing? Do you mean the noise they make when they eat too quickly? If so I wouldn't take the hay away as it's probably a good sign that they were enjoying it lol

No it's definately coughing & it's never the same ones. With the box there cage is soaked you can virtually wring it out

You could try using a plastic box with newspaper or puppy pad liner, then just change the liner? Or have a hay rack with a litter tray under it. How do you buy your Timothy hay? Could you get bigger quantities cheaper? I hope I've understood your question properly, sorry if I've got it wrong.x or maybe it's just a dusty batch of hay.

Hi your nearly there I need to get rid of the hay makes them cough, & subsitutue for some absorbent Material & something they can't leg it off with, & chew. No matter what hay I'm using. They just cough. The puppy pads sound good.
