Hey getting guinea pigs soon but I'm clueless as to what to feed them.

I was told to use Pellets,Wag and Veggies.

Is this true ?

What vegtables do you feed and how often ?

Thanks Tommo :)

You will need to feed them good quality Dry food, containing vitamin C Such as Wagg muesli, or nuggets or burgess excell nuggets, 2 examples.

A good quality hay, meadow or Timothy Hay - unlimted supply of - keeps their teeth and digestive system in check

And a small amount of veggies a couple of times daily.

Everyone has different veggie routines.

If you have any other questions about anything please ask.

Thanks so much !

Is there a safe veggies list anywhere ?

And i havent a clue how many veggies to feed.

Cheers Tommo :)

Here is a list of veg and what quantities to feed:
http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42

- Unlimited hay (up to 80% of the daily food intake to keep the back teeth ground down and the guts going)

- Pellets (preferably to most muesli mixes): topped up until 6-9 months old, then slowly reduced to the 1-1/2 handful per piggy per day that mature adults need from 12-15 months onwards.

- 50g/1 cupful of veg per piggy per day of mixed veg; ideally you include one high vitamin C veg once daily, i.e. a slice of (bell) pepper of any colour, a bit of broccoli or some fresh parsley, dill, coriander/cilantro.

- fresh water daily; please do not put additives in as you can't control the intake and the water tends to go green very quickly

Hello good post as my girls are growing all the time and I read on the link 'unlimited pellets' which is what I give them but I really dont think they need it - especially now I have read this! 1 - 1/2 handful! No wonder theyre massive! :)) Perhaps the thread could be amended? as I took my advice from that exact thread a while ago.....
