What do you do when you go away?

Until recently my friend looked after our pets while we went on hols but she's just split with her hubby and moved back in with her mum and dad who have 2 boisterous dogs so i needed to find a new sitter this year.
My OH's mum has volunteered for the task, She loves the piggies (calls them her grandpigs) so i know they'll got lots of cuddles and attention. :)
 
When I only had a couple the piggies went to stay at my mother in laws she loves them, But now I have eight I would not dream of asking her but if she offers all sswell and good. So now if I want to go away I will pay a house sitter/ pet service that visit and look after pets in there own home or I can book them into boarding. :)
 
For many years, when we have gone away for more than a couple of days, my parents have come and stayed in our house and looked after the pets. But they (my parents, not the pigs and cats!) are now in their 80s and, although they can still cope with feeding cats, I can't really expect them to clean pig cages. My neighbour would gladly help, but like us she has school-age kids and they are often away when we are. ::)
Last year we put the boys in boarding. The three younger ones were fine, but old Sam lost quite a bit of weight. As he's now over 5 1/2....will be 6 by the time we next think of going away...I daren't risk him losing any more weight, so we are going to either have to fit in with when my neighbour is here, or take him with us. Which means I guess we will then have to take Roo as well, or else have to re-bond them afterwards.

I used to have next door look after my pigs but i will not use them next summer as they broke my Trampoline and the slide,

so next year i am going to have to break up my troop and deposit them with friends, as the animal shelter near us costs a bomb to house the animals :(

That why i set up my Guinea Hotel ;D
 
Mum comes to house sit for the cats not been away since i got the piggies.

Got it planned though for next year only having a week away.

Trinny, Susannah and Honey B are going to Roy and Jo's

Jimmy and Joe will be going to Kerrys who has boars of her own.

Hopefully Murphy and Romey my house piggies will stay at home with my mum or Kerry I'm sure will have them too. :smitten:

I know i will worry about them even though they will be with great piggy sitters.
 
If there are no members of the family at home, my 2 girls go to a cattery. Not with the cats. They have them in their house, in their cage feed clean out and spoil them and charge £1 a day. :D O0

Where is this fab place? I can't believe how cheap that is. The cheapest I've seen is £3 per pig per day!
 
Per pig that is terrible, I charge £3.50 a day for two pigs, green included, in the summer they get a run on the grass all food and hay also included,

I am busy at holiday time, half term breaks and christmas,

I have two boars in at the mo, Dillan and Twitcher and i charge this family £3 because they bring there own cage and water bottle,

That's really reasonable. Whereabouts are you? I'll just bet you're nowhere near Suffolk!

I posted all mine first class on monday and I think they arrived thursday...when did you get yours? Also posted a parcel special delivery on monday for tues delivery ....got there thursday....ummmm me wasn't happy :tickedoff:
 
yes i got mine yesterday because it was the only card i got that day
