.... it seems wicked to throw them away, and I can't put them out with my recycling

Am thinking about saving this batch up and then buying the super big bag next time and dividing it up into them but then think this would probably be a bit of a chore!

How about growing veg etc in the bags? I use the hessian bags from megazorb to grow potatoes in them!
Just a thought!

dust free hay company also does the hay in boxes which we can recycle in our garden waste bins.

The ten-bale deal is still the 2.5kg size hessian sacks, you just get 10 of them! I don't think they do boxes for the larger hay deals? It is a shame as the company won't accept them back; I'm having to throw mine but I might just try growing some veg in them now. :)

I have loads of these bags also, I have thrown a few out mind you, but that's also a great tip about growing veg in them, we did this last year and you have reminded my baby brain to do the same this year!

I buy the 10 bales as well Laura ... all in hessian bags! They are trialling a different type of bag now but I think the hessian is possibly more eco-friendly and as they give the choice of which bag you want I went for the hessian. I have thrown quite a few out but felt awful doing it. Your idea was brilliant andic - I have megazorb bags as well (we use those as rubble sacks etc) - so I offered them to my neighbour who has an allotment and she has snapped them up and is happy to have as many as I can supply!

I go and get mine direct from them as they are only about eight miles from me. When I next go I will ask him about box deals and see what he says.

Ooh I love the Dust Free Hay Sacks! I upcycle mine and use as backing for my rag rugs, wall hangings and other creative projects :)

We buy them in 10's too, so I've always got plenty to work with but if they are thinking of stopping the Hessian, I'm gonna have to start hoarding the sacks now!
