What do you do with your dirty guinea pig laundry?

After reading posts on here, I've decided to go the way of fleece cage liners and bath mats and this might be a silly question, but I'm not sure what to do with the dirty/wet ones whilst waiting for them to build up into a bigger load to go in the wash.

I'm assuming no one here is putting just one or two piggy things in the washing machine daily but doing a weekly wash?

So what do you do with those things that are damp from urine? Do you have a sealed container you chuck them in until wash day? Do you try to rinse them out and air dry first so they're not festering in pee for a week before going into the washing machine?

I've always had my boys on bath mats and fleece. I find they only need them actually removing from the cage and washing once per week. They do have a very large cage though.

I also wash mine in an equine laundry bag to protect the washing machine. As no matter how much you shake them off outside, hay still ends up in there!

The cage has droppings and wet hay removed daily, but the mats/fleece definitely only need to be taken out once a week for my boys - and even then it's not all of the mats that need washing :)

Mine seem to have a couple of favourite pee spots where I think they do 80% of their tinkles XD and I think the mats could do with being changed daily in those areas at least; the rest of the cage is fine but for those spots.

Our pee pads/tunnels are swapped out as needed and added to our wash bag, then live on top of the washing machine until the big fleece needs a wash too 😊 Works out as a wash maybe every five days, depending on where everyone's sleeping that week!

If I don't have enough for a full wash I'll stick them in with a pair of jeans, a hoodie, a towel, something like that with a bit of extra weight that can bulk out a wash easily. When I had to wash their beds the other day they went in with a hoodie.

I have a laundry basket in the greenhouse where fleece items wait for a machine load to accumulate. With 5 cages 4 2x4 and 1 5x3 C&Cs it doesn't take long! Pee pads changed daily, bath mats in hay areas every other day and main fleece every 5 or 6 days generally.

We have bigger fleece pads & small ones/bath mats to go on top.
The smaller ones go in houses/ favourite corners. Bath mats usually have hay on top. I only change the bigger ones once a week. Unless someone wees through them (Billy!).
Small pads accumulate in the piggies( pet laundry- prevent hay disaster) wash bag left by the machine until it’s full enough to wash.

I keep mine in an IKEA bag but usually do 2 loads a week. They do have a big duplex palace and I change the penthouse fleece one day and the bottom level about four days later. Pee pads daily.

I use a large Pillow wad strong plastic bag and put them in there in the conservatory. If they are damp I lay them out in the summerhouse, once dried I shake and vacuum (it’s an old spare vacuum) then wash in a large polyester fabric draw string bag
