I was thinking about getting some of these for my girls because my Sophie has been biting the cage bars lately and I think it's because she's trying to wear down her teeth. I have plenty of wood stuff in the cage but I'm not sure she's actually chewing on it enough (I should mentions she's only about 7 months old so her cage biting could just be a phase). I would still have loose hay in the cage but I thought these would be a nice treat to help wear down the teeth. Has anyone used these before?

I bought some recently and the piggies weren't that bothered but they did have fun making an awful lot of mess.
The cubes are small (about 1.5 inch sq) so I used the whole pack in one go as we have 19 piggies :)
Have you tried the cardboard inner rolls from toilet/kitchen paper for your girls to chew on, ours love these stuffed with hay and is harmless to them :)

I do have a toilet paper roll in there but I haven't tried stuffing it with anything, I'll try that today and see if that satisfies her. She's just such a demanding little piggy :p

I've brought them for my chinchillas in the past and given them to the piggies and they have never really bothered with them, they had the odd nibble but thats it. I provide different grades of hay from meadow to timothy and different grasses to dry and wear the teeth down naturally. I also use the cardboard tubes stuffed with hay, i also use small boxes too and they love to hide in them and have a nibble :)

I've just filled some tubes with hay and that seems to have sparked the girls' interest (for now at least) :) I've seen those hay tunnels around and have thought about trying them but I wasn't sure whether the pigs would actually nibble on them or not.

Trust me, they will :(|) ;) The hay is Alfalfa and piggies love it :x

Someone's digging in drool

I buy these big cubes now & then for a bit of enrichment http://www.burgesspetcare.co.uk/excelfeedingplan/food-cube.html our guineas really like them. I give kitchen roll middle tubes all the time for our guineas, I always cut them lengthways first & stuff them over full of hay so they act like a sort of hayrack & stop the pigs just stamping on all their fresh hay. I also cut lengthways down the tubes as we had young piggies a few years back that tried to run through the tubes in a panic & got their heads stuck rolleyes.

Thank you all for the great advice! I'm going to try a few different things and see what works out. I think Sophie may just be going through that "teenager" piggy phase where all she wants to do is cause trouble :))
